Mantis simplifies and improves your PCB inspection
Mantis is a stereo microscope ideal for electronics PCB inspection and rework. The patented optical viewing head of Mantis provides unrivalled 3D images, plus significant ergonomic advantages, where fatigue and eye strain associated with working under magnification are eliminated. Extra long working distances are a considerable advantage where engineers can solder under magnification with the advantage of plenty of room between the lens of the microscope, the PCB and soldering iron. With superior optics, pads and joints can be easily soldered with optimum clarity and contrast.

From all my years of experiance using the original Mantis, I chose to purchase your newest design. Not only is the image quality superior to other microscopes, add this to the ease of use, the reduction in eyestrain & customer service is more than ever expected. Most importantly, I have less complaints from my work staff, this is truly a winner.
Fred, I am glad to hear that the New Mantis Elite is working so well for you. Are you aware that we can now take pictures with the Mantis? In response to the demand of our customers, we have recently released the Mantis Elite Cam. The Elite cam has a built in USB camera which is always engaged. This way you can continue to benefit from the unmatched image quality and depth of field that you have come to expect from the Mantis, however, if you need to capture the image for reporting, emailing or archiving you can do so with one mouse click!!!
WOW…Take a picture with my Elite….MAN-TIS is AWESOME!!!
I feel that it is my obligation to make you community aware of how the Mantis has had a very positive impact on an issue that has plagued me. Although this issue is quite widespread, for some reason it seems to be hidden and rarely discussed. The issue is thermal coffee cup drippage!!
Sure the coffee cups start out OK and they appear to be a “green” option to Styrofoam cups that are causing environmental concerns, but be warned….the benefits are short lived.
After only a few successful forays with the reusable thermal alternative the problems start. It starts out slow with only a small drip which most likely results in an embarrassing stain on your shirt. This first drip is usually passed off as operator error and you make sure that you screw the cap on tighter the next time. Unfortunately, you have now failed to heed the warning of what is to come…..more steady drips…perhaps a slight stream. More stained shirts, perhaps pants as well…drippage on important documents on your desk………oh the shame!!!
Extensive embarrassment usually precludes one from discussing this issue so we suffer alone; wondering what is wrong with me that I can not effectively master the use of a thermal coffee cup!! This silence only results in the proliferation of the problem as more and more people try to go green, only to suffer in silence.
But the Mantis has proven that IT IS NOT ME!!! I use the Mantis with 4x and 8x objectives to inspect the rubber gasket that is designed to seal the gap between the cover and the cup. On a new cup, the seal is both solid and flexible…hence no drippage. However, after only a few uses, the rubber gasket dries up and starts to deteriorate. This has been proven though gasket inspection using the Mantis!!! These cracks start off small but quickly expand resulting in increased drippage and eventually the dreaded stream which ruins both clothes and paperwork.
Oh thank you Vision Engineering for developing such an ergonomic alternative which has allowed me to free myself of the shameful perception of not being able to function and drink coffee at the same time. I have recently ordered your new Elite Cam so that I can capture images which I am anxious to shore with others who suffer in shame.
By the way, I have recently switched back to paper cups with plastic lids. Sure it is not a totally green alternative but at least the cups are paper. I have confirmed with my Mantis that the seal between the plastic lid and the paper cup is as tight as a drum and remains this way until disposal.
Thank you Vision Engineering for your innovative alternative to eyepiece microscopes. Feel free to post my experience so others can learn of the value of your fine equipment!!
