Vision Engineering has introduced a Mantis Contact Lens Checker, developed in conjunction with one of the world’s leading contact lens manufacturers. Designed to be ergonomic and easy to use, the Mantis offers improved quality control and operator efficiency.
Vision Engineering’s Mantis product range is based on a low magnification eyepieceless microscope. A precision, counterbalanced movement allows quick and accurate positioning in three axes, to suit individual operator requirements, promoting an ideal, fatigue-free upright posture. This helps to enable the quality control and inspection process run more smoothly, resulting in improved operator efficiency and output. Mantis is a pure optical system (not a video based unit), which provides high quality, high resolution stereo images with excellent contrast and color fidelity.
The Contact Lens Checker has been designed specifically for the optical market, to offer a solution to specific quality control problems experienced by contact lens manufacturers. Faults in hydrated lenses, such as split edges, stains, form errors, striations, flow lines and inclusions can all be identified quickly and accurately with minimum disruption to production. Using a specialist high aperture illumination system and 6x magnification means the field of view allows the operator to inspect the whole lens at once.
In a market that has never been more competitive, where the demand for short-term disposable lenses has never been greater, manufacturers are finding themselves compelled to keep costs under control and yet still improve output.
The Contact Lens Checker from Vision Engineering offers the solution to many of the problems faced in opthometric manufacturing. It allows for an inspection time of seconds per lens and is suitable for inspecting both wet lenses in saline solution and dry lenses in batch tray. The inspection process is non-destructive.
The Mantis system is a proven one with many tens of thousands of units already installed in industrial and laboratory sites worldwide, and multiple units are already in use with one of the world’s leading contact lens manufacturers, for more information on the Mantis stereo microscope, visit: www.visioneng.us/mantis
